Listen to Yellow-headed and Red-winged Blackbirds, Avocets, Bitterns, Marsh Wrens, Virginia and Sora Rails, various ducks, Pied-billed Grebes, Snipe, Franklin Gulls, Coyotes, and more. These stereo recordings are incredibly life-like and free from added music. Buy this album today, and experience a premier wetland environment rich with wildlife.

Extended Sample from the Lakeside Evening track:

Track List:

Prairie Melodies: 10:02 min.

On the hillsides, away from the water, tall grasses sway in the breeze on a warm sunny afternoon. Lark Buntings are singing from their perches along the farm fences. Western Meadowlarks call from the deep grass, and the squawks of Ring-necked Pheasants are heard over the pleasant murmur of insects.

Lakeside Evening: 15:15

Relax with a wonderful variety of birds along this secluded lakeshore during late afternoon. Yellow-headed Blackbirds call from the Cattails. American Avocets make shrill calls as they roam the shoreline. American Bittern, Song Sparrow, and Ring-necked Pheasant can be heard in the background. Killdeer, Canada Geese, Blue-winged Teal, Mallard, and Western Chorus Frogs are heard throughout. Listen for the heavy wing beats of a White Pelican as it ascends nearby. Franklin Gulls, common only to the Pothole region, are also heard.

Pothole Marsh: 25:25 min.

The marshes, in the Pothole region, are abundant with life. Listen to a vibrant chorus of birds in this small pothole on a calm evening. Yellow-headed and Red-winged Blackbirds compete for territory. The rattling calls of many Marsh Wrens and chants of Common Yellowthroat Warblers emanate from the dense Cattails. Pied-billed Grebe, Blue-winged Teal, and Northern Shoveler call and splash in the pools. Listen for the Virginia Rail and unique whinny of a Sora Rail. Dueling groups of Coyotes yelp in the distant fields, and a Deer casually walks by.

Pothole Sunset: 25:37 min.

Twilight brings fascinating new sounds to the marsh. Red-winged Blackbirds, Marsh Wrens, Common Yellowthroat Warblers, and Western Meadowlarks gradually subside. Coyote packs begin to roam and howl. Listen, as Pied-billed Grebes, Shoveler, and Blue-winged Teal actively fly about and call. The cries, of a Red-tailed Hawk, are heard from its nest. A chorus of Western Chorus Frogs, punctuated by Leopard Frogs, intensifies. The winnowing of Wilson’s Snipe and pumping sound of Bittern can also be heard.

Total Run Time: 76:19 min.
